- The Itinerary :
Depart from Marrakech and journey towards the picturesque Ait Bougmez Valley, also known as the “Happy Valley.” The valley, nestled among the High Atlas Mountains, offers stunning views and a welcoming atmosphere. Arrive in the valley and check into your accommodation, where you’ll spend the night at a cozy gîte, preparing for the adventure ahead.
After breakfast, meet your team of experienced muleteers who will assist with carrying your gear throughout the trek. From here, begin your trek into the beautiful Arous Valley. The path leads you to Azib Ikkis, a traditional mountain settlement. Along the way, enjoy the breathtaking landscapes, dotted with charming Berber villages and lush greenery.
Today, the trek takes you through challenging terrain as you ascend to the shoulder of Aghouri. From there, continue toward the Tizi n’Tarkedit Pass (3450 meters). This is a high-altitude climb, but the views from the pass are absolutely worth the effort. Reach the Tarkedit Plateau, where you’ll have a well-deserved rest and camp under the stars, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery.
The day begins with a challenging ascent of M’goun, the second-highest peak in Morocco at 4071 meters. The summit offers a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding valleys, including the El-Kelaa and the Dades Valley. After taking in the majestic views, begin the descent towards the sources of Oulilimt, where you’ll camp for the night, enjoying the serenity of the mountains.
Follow the M’goun River through a spectacular landscape, marked by rocky terrain and lush riverbanks. As you trek towards the village of M’Rabtine (1950m), you’ll pass through remote villages and witness the daily lives of the Berber people. Once you arrive at M’Rabtine, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before settling in for the night.
Today, you’ll experience one of the most exciting sections of the trek: the narrow and awe-inspiring gorges of M’goun, with the incredible passage of Achayene. This stunning landscape will take your breath away as you navigate through the winding canyon. Your journey continues toward Aguerzaka (1750m), where you’ll camp for the night, surrounded by the dramatic canyon walls.
After breakfast, a transfer will take you to Hadida, where you’ll meet your minibus. Begin the drive back to Marrakech, passing through the beautiful Rose Valley and the valley of a thousand kasbahs. Continue through Ouarzazate and the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, offering one last panoramic view of the majestic Atlas Mountains. Arrive back in Marrakech, where your incredible adventure comes to an end.
