Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech – Welcome to Morocco

Arrive at Marrakech’s airport where you’ll be warmly welcomed. After a smooth transfer to your hotel, enjoy the evening at your leisure. Take a walk around the bustling medina or relax at the hotel to prepare for the days ahead. The vibrant atmosphere of Marrakech will captivate you as you begin your Moroccan adventure.

Day 2: Marrakech to Tasmahalte via the Draa Valley – Scenic Atlas Mountains Journey

After breakfast, depart from Marrakech and journey through the majestic Atlas Mountains. Pass the famous Tichka Pass (2260m), offering stunning views of rugged terrain. Stop for lunch in Ouarzazate, a town known for its film studios and historical significance. In the afternoon, travel deeper into the Saghro Mountains, where you’ll enjoy a short hike across the Ilmchane Plateau. The landscape is dotted with fields of henna and almond trees, providing an authentic view of rural Morocco. Continue to Tasmahalte for an overnight stay, surrounded by peaceful desert vistas.

Day 3: Ilmchane to Ait Ouarzik – Discovering Ancient Petroglyphs

Set off early from Ilmchane to avoid the midday sun. You’ll hike through the beautiful Zaalou Valley, an oasis teeming with palm trees and kasbahs. A delicious lunch will be served in the shade, nestled among the palm groves. After lunch, continue to Ait Ouarzik, where you’ll explore ancient petroglyphs, some dating back to 5000 BC, depicting animals like ostriches, elephants, and giraffes. You’ll camp near the village under the stars, giving you the chance to immerse yourself in Morocco’s rich history.

Day 4: Ait Ouarzik to Albarage Dunes – Exploring Gorges and Kasbahs

Start the day by visiting the Ait Ouarzik kasbah, made from traditional mud-brick (pisé) with stunning Berber architecture. Continue your hike through the scenic Imi-n-Ougni Gorge, known for its narrow passageways and dramatic rock formations. As you reach the plateau, the terrain transforms into a landscape of acacias and tamarisks. Your journey will take you to Albarage, where you’ll set up camp at the foot of the beautiful dunes, ready to sleep under the stars.

Day 5: Albarage to Serdrar – Crossing Villages and Dunes

Rise early for a 7-hour trek across a variety of landscapes. You’ll pass through villages like Ait Ali Ouhassou and Ait Hddou, encountering the desert’s famous dunes and oases along the way. These remote communities will give you a glimpse into traditional Berber life. As you make your way toward the Saghro Mountains, the vastness of the desert will begin to unfold before you. In the evening, reach Serdrar and settle into your camp after an unforgettable day.

Day 6: Serdrar to Tazarine – Fossil Exploration and Scenic Views

Today, you’ll explore the Tizi-n-Serdrar pass, famous for its fossil-rich soil. The ground is covered with ancient fossils, making it a paradise for nature lovers and history enthusiasts. After marveling at the prehistoric remains, continue to Tazarine, a charming town nestled at the foot of the mountains. You’ll stay in a traditional Berber campsite, where you can unwind and enjoy a warm shower.

Day 7: Return to Marrakech via the Draa Valley – Scenic Drive Back

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Marrakech, driving through the picturesque Draa Valley. The valley is dotted with lush palm groves, kasbahs, and adobe villages. This return trip gives you one last chance to take in the desert landscapes, the Atlas Mountains, and the vastness of Morocco’s natural beauty. Upon arrival in Marrakech, check into your riad for a restful night.

Day 8: Free Day in Marrakech – Explore the Red City

Enjoy a full day to explore Marrakech at your own pace. You can visit historical sites like the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, and the Saadian Tombs. Wander through the souks and sample local delicacies, or visit the Majorelle Garden, a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city. In the evening, you can explore Jemaa el-Fnaa, where the night market comes to life with performers, food stalls, and vibrant energy.

Day 9: Departure from Marrakech – Farewell Morocco

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your departure. Take with you the memories of your incredible 9-day adventure, filled with history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes.
